"Flash Flood" FCC's Spring Spiritual Growth Emphasis
March 7th - April 25th
flash flood: an inundation of water in low-lying areas brought on by a sudden release of a water source (rainfall, dam or ice jam); the power released can sweep away whatever is in its path.This spring, we are asking God to release His power on us and bring a spiritual "flash flood" to our church and our community that will bring revival among God's people and spiritual awakening among those who are lost. This seven week emphasis includes the four weeks leading up to Easter and the three weeks immediately following. During these seven weeks we are going to focus on the core spiritual disciplines of:
Personal and Corporate Prayer
We are challenging everyone to pray every day during these seven weeks. Each Sunday, you will receive helpful prayer tips and prayer requests that you will be praying for along with everyone in our church family. You'll have an opportunity to share how God is answering your requests at the end of our emphasis. You'll also be specifically praying for unchurched/unsaved individuals in your sphere of influence toward the goal of inviting them to an FCC service or event.
You'll also have the opportunity and blessing of praying with other brothers & sisters in Christ in a weekly gathering that we're calling The Flood Zone. This prayer gathering will take place on Fridays from 7-7:30am in the FCC lobby from Mar 26th-Apr 23rd.
Personal and Corporate Fasting
When accompanied with prayer, fasting will bring you closer to God as you focus on Him and take your requests and needs to His throne. Our corporate times of fasting will be on Fridays, but you can always chose an alternative day if that works better for you. Everyone is encouraged to fast during the day (breakfast & lunch) dedicating some time to spend with God in prayer.
Personal and Corporate Bible Study Each Sunday, you will be given a daily devotional guide for that week. The devotional will draw your attention to a Scripture along with a brief explanation and challenge. As you use this tool for your own spiritual growth, your walk with Christ will be strengthened, and you'll be focusing on the same passages and principles along with the rest of your church family. Our corporate Bible messages on Sundays during this seven week period will include:
March 14th & 21st: Persevering in Parenting
April 11th & 18th: Building an Unshakable Faith in a Shaky World
Personal and Corporate Outreach
God uses us to bring others to faith in Him when we build strong and lasting relationships with spiritually lost people. This is called investing. He also uses us when we boldly invite others to attend an event or church service with us. This is called inviting. Investing and inviting are both proven ways that God works in the hearts and lives of the unsaved through us.
The next seven weeks affords great opportunities to invite unchurched/unsaved friends and family members to one of our worship services or an outreach event. When preceded by prayer, God can use a friendly invitation on your part to draw someone to Himself through these outreaches:
